Commitment to achieving net zero

Genmed.me Limited (“Genmed”) is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045 across our operational boundary and supply chain. We review our emissions annually and have established clear near-term and long-term reduction targets aligned with recognised UK Government guidance.

This Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) is prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 and relevant supporting standards. It remains subject to internal review as part of our continuous improvement approach.

Scope 1 Emissions – Direct Emissions

Definition: Emissions released directly from sources that Genmed owns or controls. These are the most immediate and operationally controlled emissions in your reporting boundary: Gas or fuel use in buildings directly controlled by Genmed

Scope 2 Emissions – Indirect Energy Emissions

Definition: Emissions generated from the purchase of electricity, heat, steam or cooling. They are indirect because thee missions occur at the utility provider, not at Genmed’s own facilities: Electricity consumed in Genmed offices

Scope 3 Emissions – Other Indirect Value-Chain Emissions

Definition: All other indirect emissions that occur outside Genmed’s direct control, across both upstream and downstream activities. These typically constitute the largest proportion of emissions for service-based organisations: Scope 3sub-categories:

  • Water
  • Materials
  • Waste disposal
  • Hotel stays
  • Home working
  • Business travel
  • Employee commuting
  • Travel for subcontractors

Near term goals (by 2030, and applying a 2022-2023 baseline)

Long term goals (by 2045, 2022-2023 baseline)

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.

Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline year: 2022-23

Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations:

Details of the standard, protocol, or methodology you have used to collect activity data and calculate emissions:

Genmed were awarded the ISO 14001:2015 certification in March 2020 and successfully retained the certification in 2023-2024 with zero major or minor nonconformities.

This means that Genmed maintain awareness of and comply with appropriate environmental legislation, regulations and accepted standards and codes of practice and fully meet customer and interested parties stated and/or perceived environmental expectations by the prevention of pollution as far as reasonably practicable. We look to continually review and monitor all aspects of the company’s activities in a bid to identify opportunities for implementing environmental performance improvement. Genmed ensure that this policy and supporting processes are understood by and communicated within the organisation and that this policy is available to the public.

In the year 2022-2023 we, measured all aspects within the office where we feel that we can reduce our environmental impact.

Reducing the amount of waste that we have going to landfill and have diverted over 80% of office waste going to landfill through our Biffa contract in our base year 2022-2023.

Introduced confidential shredding for all paper within the offices, and this is weighed and logged within the business. Each office uses local companies for their confidential shredding.

In our registered office in Wales, we have solar panels, and a ZIP tap which allows us to use only the water necessary.

Our electrical goods are collected and disposed of under WEEE regulations or, if possible, are recycled and reused internally. This includes mobile phones, screens, and laptops.

Supplier engagement

Genmed conduct due diligence on all suppliers to allow us to have a full overview of all the companies who would have upstream and downstream impacts on the contract. We complete the vetting biannually and this due diligence includes the following:

  • Declaration from our suppliers that in the past3 years have not had any breach of environmental, social, or labour law obligations and if they have, they are required to provide details.
  • Companies confirm that they abide by Modern Slavery act 2015 and the criminal law amendment bill 2015.
  • Companies to confirm if they hold a 14001 ISO certification or equivalent and are committed to social responsibility and work in communities.

The information presented within this report has been prepared in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG). The data presented in this CRP was calculated using several data sources, including utility statements, company card transactions and UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting year 2025. For some data sources assumptions have been used where energy and carbon use cannot be precisely calculated from primary sources.

Emissions reduction targets

To continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 33,227 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 35%.

Carbon reduction projects

Completed carbon reduction initiatives.

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022-2023 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 9644.8 tCO2e, a 12.34% reduction against the 2022-2023 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

The following projects were initiated by Genmed in 2023-2024 to reduce emissions as 84% of Genmed’s total emissions are scope 3 our focus is on Scope3 sources.
