Cardiff and Vale University Health Board’s Haematology Laboratory Service first contracted with Genmed in 2010 to provide a Managed Service Agreement for the whole of laboratory. This included a wide breadth of services for routine haematology, routine and specialised coagulation, blood transfusion, immunophenotyping flow cytometry and haemoglobinopathy screening. We chose this option because, as a facilitator of public service contracts rather than a direct analyser manufacturer or supplier, we were able to gain our first-choice analysers throughout all the different sections of our laboratory rather than have to compromise in certain areas. We have remained with Genmed since that date and it has allowed us to concentrate on our core business of serving our patients. If we have any issues or difficulties with any of the services, these are resolved with Genmed dealing with our suppliers rather than having to discuss directly, saving time and energy. We have fortnightly quick catch-up meetings so that the contract can be monitored. This is especially useful to continually review spend and performance. We also have four quarterly business meetings to discuss end of quarter finance, KPIs and other contractual matters. If required, any of the third-party suppliers can be invited to discuss matters with more detail. Members of the Genmed team are always available to deal with queries and issues and are extremely responsive.
I’m Sally and I'm the clinical therapy lead. We've got a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and therapy technical instructors. Genmed has been a real support to our department. They have been able to supply the specialist equipment we need for our patients, including those on our enhanced recovery pathways. Often, we need braces, hip braces, and knee braces that are a bit different from the norm. I can only say our Genmed contact is really responsive to anything that we need and they are always only a phone call away. We really love working with them.
Partnering with Genmed as a vendor-neutral managed service provider has significantly benefited SWLEOC since 2016. Their vendor-neutral approach has empowered our clinical staff to influence the choice of products, systems, and services, all of which directly impact patient care.Throughout their contract, Genmed has collaborated closely with our clinical teams, ensuring that the relationship between suppliers and our staff is optimised. In 2019, I worked with Genmed to rationalise prosthetics contracts, achieving a substantial saving of around £400,000 annually for SWLEOC.During our partnership, Genmed has facilitated the upgrade of our equipment and an increase in theatre capacity. This collaboration has allowed clinical staff to contribute to the selection of products and even to the design of new theatre facilities. Having a single point of contact for equipment, stock, and services has enabled us to focus more on patient care and the continuous improvement of the patient journey
