Genmed provides Managed Services to the NHS in order to provide both cost and operational efficiencies, to support innovation and service improvement, and, ultimately, to have a positive impact on the delivery of patient care across the UK. We currently manage more than 250 contracts in 46 NHS organisations across the UK.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and tenacious Purchasing & Supplier Manager to work closely with our service delivery teams including those on-site to ensure that our customers are receiving the best possible service from our suppliers including the best pricing. This role will prove pivotal to the building and maintenance of customer and supplier relationships as well as driving exceptional customer service. This role will form part of the Operational Leadership Team (OLT).
Key Accountabilities
- To build, manage and maintain supplier relationships across the current and future supply chain.
- Proactively manage both internal and external stakeholders in relation to meetings and communication to ensure a high level of commitment is secured during the sourcing process and implementation, promoting the effective management of suppliers to sustain value throughout the life of the contract.
- Collaboratively work alongside the Catalogue and Savings Managers and the associated onsite teams to ensure that suppliers are delivering on their agreed KPIs.
- Support delivery of savings and best value across all categories of the Genmed managed services portfolio including but not limited to Pathology, Endoscopy, Surgery.
- Manage all key procurement projects/mini-competitions with the support of Regional Service Delivery Managers, Account Managers, Bids & Tenders Writer and various other teams across the business.
- Work alongside the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Regional Service Delivery Mangers to develop supplier strategies that deliver key business objectives and enhance the value of Genmed contracts.
- Undertake supplier market research to ensure that the required suppliers, products, and services are continually in scope and providing the best value at all times.
- Proactively manage the post-contractual environment alongside the Account Management and On-Site Teams to ensure that all terms and conditions are being applied and related benefits secured.
- Define and deliver breakthrough supplier performance in relation to cost, service and quality whilst supporting the negotiation of strategically significant contracts.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- An experienced commercial finance director.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office 365 particularly with MS Excel.
- Strong Negotiation skills.
- CIPS qualifications would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of ERP, CRM and SAP systems would be an advantage.
- Demonstrable experience of supplier management.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills both internal and external.
- Ability to prioritise your own workload within a complex environment with changing priorities and deadlines with the skill to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
- Ability to negotiate, analyse, evaluate and recommend supplier quotations.
- Ability to apply lateral thinking for problem solving.
- Proactive and positive approach with a can-do attitude.
- Exceptional communication skills across all modalities.
- Highly organised with a keen eye for the finer details.
- Flexible and receptive to change.
People Management
This role has no direct line management responsibility currently but as the business continues along its growth plans this is a potential area of development for the future.
Contacts, Relationships & Staff Interaction
This role interacts with all areas of the business in addition to extensive interaction with our existing supplier as well as potential new suppliers. A friendly but professional style is required alongside the ability to negotiate and resolve issues whilst maintaining a good working relationship with all parties.
Work Environment
This is a full-time office-based role in our head office in Cwmbran, Wales (NP44) working alongside our customer service, data, and finance teams. There is some travel expected to our Surrey office and also to external meetings, but these will be discussed and agreed in advance with you. There is no physical activity required in this role.
